Use as directed by your healthcare provider. Place the tablet on your tongue and allow it to melt; swallow the dissolved medicine. If you miss a dose and you still plan sexual activity, take it when you remember unless it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. Do not take more than one dose in 24 hours or double up on doses.
Tadalafil blocks an enzyme called phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE-5). When this enzyme is blocked, blood vessels in the penis relax and widen, allowing more blood to enter during sexual stimulation. Most men start to feel the effect within 30–60 minutes. One dose can keep working for up to 36 hours, so erections may be easier to achieve during that time if you are sexually aroused.
Do not use if you take nitrate medicines for chest pain (such as nitroglycerin) or riociguat for pulmonary hypertension; the combination can cause dangerous drops in blood pressure. Do not use if you have severe heart or liver disease, very low blood pressure, recent stroke or heart attack (within the last 6 months), uncontrolled high blood pressure, or certain eye disorders like non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION). Do not use if you are allergic to tadalafil or any component of this tablet. Not approved for anyone under 18.
Serious interaction with any nitrate (nitroglycerin, isosorbide), recreational "poppers" (amyl nitrate), and guanylate cyclase stimulators like riociguat—can cause life-threatening low blood pressure. Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (ketoconazole, itraconazole, ritonavir, clarithromycin) may raise tadalafil levels and side effects; your provider may adjust the dose. Alpha-blockers (tamsulosin, doxazosin) and some blood pressure drugs can add to dizziness risk—stand up slowly. Excess alcohol increases the chance of low blood pressure and fainting; limit to 2 drinks or fewer. Grapefruit or grapefruit juice may increase drug levels; avoid or discuss with your provider. Tell your provider about all prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, and herbal supplements (especially St. John’s wort and ginkgo).
Very common (more than 1 in 10): headache (often mild and fades within a few hours). Common (1–10 in 100): flushing, nasal stuffiness, indigestion, back pain, muscle aches, limb pain. Uncommon (1–10 in 1000): dizziness, blurred vision, ringing in ears. Rare but serious: sudden vision loss, sudden hearing loss, prolonged erection lasting over 4 hours (priapism), severe allergic reaction (rash, swelling of face or throat). Most mild side effects improve within a few hours; back and muscle aches usually resolve in 24–48 hours. Seek medical help right away for serious or lasting side effects.
Store at room temperature 68-77°F (20-25°C) in a dry place, away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep tablets in the original, tightly closed container until use. Do not store in bathrooms or hot cars. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Dispose of unused or expired tablets through a pharmacy take-back program or mix with unappealing trash (coffee grounds) in a sealed bag before discarding.
Frequently Asked Questions
How quickly will this tablet start working?
Most men feel the effect in about 30 to 60 minutes after letting the tablet melt on the tongue. Taking it on an empty stomach may help it work a little faster.
Can I take it every day?
Follow your provider’s directions. Many men use it only when needed, no more than once every 24 hours. If your provider prescribes daily use at a lower dose, do not take extra doses for a boost.
What if I drink alcohol the same day?
Small amounts (1–2 drinks) are usually fine, but heavy drinking can make dizziness and low blood pressure worse. Limit alcohol when you plan to use tadalafil.
Is it safe with my blood pressure medicine?
Some blood pressure drugs, especially nitrates and alpha-blockers, can interact dangerously with tadalafil. Bring an up-to-date medication list to your provider so they can check for problems.
Can women use this medication?
No. Tadalafil RDT is only approved for adult men with erectile dysfunction. It has not been studied or approved for use in women.
How should I store the tablets when traveling?
Keep them in their original labeled bottle, inside a cool, dry bag. Avoid leaving them in hot cars or direct sunlight. A small pill case is fine for short trips as long as it stays dry.
What should I do if I get an erection that lasts more than 4 hours?
Go to the emergency room right away. A prolonged erection (priapism) can damage tissue if not treated quickly.
